世界外国语小学班(周五)
今天是我们世外班的第一课, 我们有了一个很好的开头。以作自我介绍开始, 每个人急切地想发言。这个团队里没有一个害羞的孩子! Richard非常主动, 率先通过介绍自己带领了整个班都,整堂课,他都起到了领导作用。接着我们玩了一个快速帮助记忆人名以增进互相了解的游戏。每个孩子都作了自我介绍, 以及他们想做的事, 接着,介绍了在他们面前的人,直到介绍完全班。尽管孩子们渴望开口, 但当安排任务时,他们的热情反而导致了一些障碍; 因而, 在作完介绍后, 我们一起坐了下来, 制作了一些课堂规则。
一旦规则定来来,并且一致通过后,每个人都平静了一点, 以便能继续学习。接着我们介绍了演讲最基本的规则, 并作了一个微型的快速演讲。在每一个孩子演讲完后, 他的同学们作评论,并为之提出改进意见。Jacqui的观察力相当敏锐, 她的建议对她的同班同学非常有帮助。
最后的部分是读一首诗,Shel Silverstein“警告”。首先,我们一起读了这首诗,接着分成小组, 所以每个学生有机会朗读、背诵这首诗。稍加练习后, 我们又聚在一起, 一个接一个地朗读这首诗。这是公共演讲课的首课, 每个人的表现都相当棒。

W.F.L.S (Friday)
Today was our first class and it started out on a high note. We began with introductions and everyone was eager to speak - there is not a shy child in this group! Richard took the initiative and led the class by introducing himself first, and continued to act as a leader throughout the class. We then played a quick game to help remember names and get to know each other. Each student introduced themselves and one thing they like to do, and then introduced the people that spoke before them, until they were introducing the whole class. Although the students were very eager to speak, their enthusiasm led to some difficulties at the beginning in staying on task; however, after introductions, we sat down together and created the rules for the class.
Once the rules were set and agreed upon, everyone calmed down a bit and was able to stay on task. We proceeded by introducing the basic rules of public speaking and giving a quick mini-speech. After each student spoke, their classmates critiqued their peers and gave suggestions for improvement. Jacqui's suggestions were very observant and quite helpful for her classmates.
The last part of class was spent examining a poem: "Warning" by Shel Silverstein. We first read the poem together, and then split into groups so that each student had the chance to read and recite the poem individually. After a bit of practice, we came back together and performed the poem one by one. Especially for a first class in public speaking, everyone did wonderfully.
Homework for the next week is to review the poem and be prepared to perform it again. Additionally, everyone needs to bring in something that is special to them, whether it is an object, toy, picture or something else. They should be prepared to share what it is and why it is special. Also, don't forget to bring a notebook and pen next week for taking notes!

我们回顾了上一堂课的作业—每个人都要来教别的孩子一些事情。虽然有两个孩子未作准备,其余的人都有各种各样的绝活、游戏、魔术和技能传授给大家。在中午的课上,Nici尤其让我们惊奇,她用一种独特的方法来做乘法展示了她的数学技能,而Anzi的怪物画速成班是出乎意料的具有娱乐性。在下午的课上,我们有三个学生教我们折纸, 在课上大家学会了如何折气球、玫瑰、和火箭。Neil教我们一个有趣的魔术, Tim和我们分享了如何安全地看日全食。所有孩子的创造力给人留下了很深的印象! 在回顾如何清晰表达的时候, 孩子们试图教我如何去做花生果酱三明治。由于缺乏明确性和精确性,在经历了多次失败之后, 两个班的孩子终于引导我做出了完美的三明治。孩子们知道他们必须给出非常明确的指示,否者他们的听众会被他们的指示所混淆。
今天课的重点是事实和观点之间的区别, 并通过案例及游戏展示了它们之间的不同。让孩子们了解事实和观点之间的差别很重要, 特别是对写信息类演讲稿而言, 而这是今天的第二个的学习目标。我们就事实与观念的区别玩了一场“音乐椅”类型的游戏。我们在事实和观点之间变化着。下午的课, King Lu常站在中间, 但是他很坚持,并且会想出一些创造性的“事实”!
最后一个环节是回顾信息类演讲的要点,进行头脑风暴,写信息类演说的开头部份。大多数的孩子在课堂上完成了介绍部分, 但有几个孩子纠结于挑选主题。
本周的回家作业是完成演讲稿的初稿。记住要有介绍, 正文(有3个材料)、结论! 值得注意的是, 这并不是最终的演讲稿, 孩子们不需要过分担心他们的话题是什么。
