India doesn't underestimate the Chinese Army - it only knows them too well after the 1967 hiding India gave at a place not too far from the present standoff. The Chinese like to get something for free simply through intimidation - they've been threatening fire and brimstone upon India for the past two months, but are yet to move a muscle. The Chinese Army is largely made up of 'precious little emperors' coming from one-child families. Those days, the Chinese would leave their dead to rot in the fields and no one would dare ask what happened to them. Whereas now, they can't fudge those war casualty figures so easily and the moment Chinese parents see body bags arriving at their doorstep, the 'leadership' will have a revolution on their hands. China dare not attack India for it will spell the death knell for the CPC.
